JustDrive, orchestrates events from car, mobile, and apps to distill contextual relevance, eliminating app interfaces and their modalities to make the experience car-safe. It takes away the anxiety of interacting with mobile apps in the car by enabling the ecosystem of mobile Apps to roam with the user. The result is that the right people, places and things get auto-magically presented at the right time.
JUST DRIVE
THE PROBLEM
Consumers prefer to use their mobile apps in the car but apps are not designed for use at ‘any’ miles per hour. In fact, selecting the right app alone from a sea of app icons, consumes all the cognitive resources available to a driver. Further, each App comes with its own UI designed to engage the user and competes for driver’s attention. This causes the safety gap which mirroring the phone, or bringing Apps in the car cannot address.
THE SOLUTION
At CloudCar, we designed a car-centric experience framework to address distracted driving holistically. Instead of mirroring, or integrating Apps in the Car, our approach is focused on meeting driver-centric goals, separating the App functions and essence from their UIs. The result is one car-appropriate UI that provides a continuous experience homogenizing Apps and eliminating interaction modalities, so that a driver can just drive. It presents only what is relevant using a minimalist visual language and consistent interaction patterns.
HOW IT WORKS
Just Drive auto-pairs user’s smart phone with the car and presents the experience using a car’s IVI and other available distribution surfaces like ‘Heads-up Display’. It makes user interactions safe by using in-car HMI resources for user inputs. Voice based Search is integrated into the core interface to serve as the gateway to people, places and things on-demand. Additionally, all primary commands such as “Play the Beatles”; or “Call John”; or “Message Mary” are Voice-enabled. Just Drive disambiguates and reformulates the results based on inferring what the user’s drive-centric goals are.
